Credited As Righteousness (Melanie Watson)

Listen Later

What can we learn about the link between God’s promise, our faith, and credited righteousness that will increase our understanding, transform our lives, and expand our impact on the world around us?

  1. Righteousness originates with God, who offers us the promise of blessing through his grace. Righteousness does not begin with our actions. It begins with God’s action. He makes a promise to us by His grace, that aligns with His righteous character and His divine plans for us.
  2. Faith is a journey whereby God expands our capacity to comprehend what is possible by His Promise of blessing. Faith isn’t about acting out our own imagination of God’s promise. Then we become discouraged if we don’t see the results we arelooking for, and think it’s because we don’t have enough faith, which is just a belief in our own righteousness. Faith is a journey where we grow in our knowledge of Him, increasing our ability to see the world through His eyes, and aligning our desires withHis heart as He continues to unfold and reveal the scope of His blessing.
  3. God’s righteousness, credited to us by our faith in His promise to act, produces acts of God through us that fulfill His mission for the world. Righteousness is not an act FOR God. It’s an act OF God through us. Once credited with righteousness, we become vesselsfor divine action.

Righteousness is the engine of kingdom advance, empowering us to live out God’s blessing in Genesis 12:3 that all nations would be blessed and Jesus' commission in Matt. 28:19-20 to make disciples of all nations.

It produces in us the power to bring God’s acts of blessing, God’s message of hope, and God’s provision of freedom to a world in desperate need of His righteousness.
