Crescent City- House of Earth and Blood: I'm really confused and concerned

Listen Later

We're back! This week, we're digging into the first book of the Cresent City series- House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas. SPOILERS!

The first couple hundred pages had Megan questioning whether she was too dumb to read this book. After adopting the mantra, "if it's important, I'm sure it will come up again," things started to pick up.

We both really enjoyed going from A Court of Silver Flames into this series and see a lot of parallels between our favorite couples. Hunt won us over and never made us question him (except for when he DID). Megan wonders at the fact that it only took one series to go from being okay with morally gray love interests to straight up demons.

We went far too long before we finally put some respect on Lehabah's name. Long live LeLe!

We have veiled items. We have forced proximity. We have a slow slow burn but get to hear the mating bond song. We have a last 100 pages that had Megan saying "that ending was not what I thought was going to go down," which could really be SJM's tagline. Samantha said "I don't know, I don't remember," and Megan has learned that means to be prepared for more twists in the next books.

Megan pictures the sailings to the Bone Quarter like the Undying Lands, and Samantha's reaction hints that might not age well. Megan also hears "praying mantis," anytime she reads "Umbra Mortis," so the helmet is just a silver praying mantis head. Highly recommend.
