When someone is sick and comes to the hospital ,their first contact with the hospital is the Emergency room or Nursing unit.There patient will be screened and determined what unit that he/ she will go to.The hospital unit have criteria that will define the scope of care and the appropriate population for admission. The decision to admit a patient is based on patient needs and the hospital ability to provide those needs. If the hospital cannot provide those needs then patient will be transferred to another facility. And information about patient will be shared with that facility. These will include reasons for transfer.And summary of care already provided. We must provide privacy. Access only the medical information that you will need to do your job.
