Criticisms

Listen Later

I hope that you are continuing to pray for God’s people to hunger for corporate worship and fellowship. As you pray, invite those who don’t have a church home to worship and fellowship with us at PFBC. You may be the person who helps a friend with their New Year’s Resolution to get back in church.

Last week, we looked at how to deal with Compliments. I hope that none of us are doing good works to be seen. We should do good works in a manner that when they are seen, we are pointing to our Father in heaven.

Today, we will continue with our 2024 Verse of the Year sermon series by moving our focus to how we deal with Criticism. We will compare Criticism and Constructive Criticism as we see without a doubt that, as the church, we should seek to correct each other when we get out of line.

Our message title is “Criticisms,” and it comes from Proverbs 27:6 and 27:17.

Our points will be:

  1. Correction, What’s That?
  2. Recognizing Helpful Wounds
  3. Staying Sharp
  4. Supporting Texts: Proverbs 27:19, James 5:19-20, Psalm 101:5, Ephesians 4:29, Proverbs 13:24, Galatians 6:1, Matthew 7:12, 1 Timothy 5:20, John 8:44, Romans 12:15, 1 Samuel 23:16-17, James 2:8

    Questions:

    • Explain the importance of correcting wrongdoing.
    • Why is Constructive Criticism better than Criticism?
    • Can a friend correct you without tearing you down? Explain.
    • Why can’t a prideful heart receive correction?
    • List some reasons that it is important for Christ-followers to worship and fellowship together.
    • Who is sharpening you? Who are you sharpening?
    • ...more
