Cross-Bridge Security: The Challenges and the Solutions

Listen Later

Hi everyone, we are back with another episode of our podcast allowing you to get to know people working behind the scenes of the crypto industry.  Today we are lucky to be joined once again by Krishnan Nair, an engineering & MBA professional focused on building technology products & high-performing teams. He’s also currently VP of Product at 21.co.

Welcome to the 163rd episode of the Inside Crypto Podcast. This episode was recorded on September 8th, 2023. With the launch of 21.co’s new tokens, we talked to Krish about some of the challenges behind these wrapped tokens. We also talk about how the company approached security for these products a bit differently.

Thanks, everyone for listening, and don’t forget to tune in next week when we once again have Gurjeet Kundi (Head of Trading) on the podcast to talk about liquidity and market making.

Topics Covered Today:

Before we jump into the crux of today’s discussion, I was wondering if you could give our audience an overview of what we’ve released this week.

Wrapped tokens are not new. Most crypto users would have seen WBTC on the top 20 at some point. How do our tokens differentiate themselves from other such offerings?

Wrapped tokens sound simple but I was wondering if you could highlight some interesting use cases for this technology.

I know some might have alarm bells ringing with the thought of bridges. Before we dive further, perhaps we can talk about the rough structure of a bridge and how it works in crypto.

What are some of the challenges involved in bridges?

What are some recent advancements in bridge technology that we are using? How is this filling the gap in the industry?

Security is essential in any industry, how are we keeping our products as secure as possible?

Anyone whose never heard of us might have googled 21Shares and realized we’re kind of a Cefi company. That’s partially true but at the same time we are moving in a new direction and our wrapped tokens have a role to play. What is that role?
