Sweet Contemporary Love Story - Perfect for Teens

What made the experience of listening to Crossing the Ice the most enjoyable?

The story brought me back to my teen years and the phenomenon that was Ice Castles. This contemporary view of the competitive world of ice skating. All the tantalizing components are there: evil villain, spunky heroine, shy creative boy etc. This series is an excellent addition to YA genre.

Have you listened to any of Emily Stokess other performances before? How does this one compare?

Emily Stokes does an excellent job with the various characters from toddlers to Russian coaches. The pacing was perfect adding to the build of the plot. I would like to another of her performances.

This book is PG rated. No hot, steamy love scenes so be confident in gifting to younger readers.

Probably not, but it was a very good listen

What other book might you compare Crossing the Ice to and why?

This is very Sarah Dessen like. Young love with a twist of drama.

Which scene was your favorite?

When they were in Martha's Vineyard and were stuck at Emily's Aunts Cabin. It was so sweet and innocent it brought me back to those experiences myself.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I could have most certainly but I broke it up into several settings.

Superb!

Narration - Emily Stokes - Really Good

Wow! This was such an unexpectedly wonderful book. This is my first time reading this author, received the audiobook in exchange for a review and now, I'm a super fan.

This is a clean young adult romance that is refreshing, exciting, romantic, heartbreaking and triumphant. Courtney and Mark and pairs skating partners with Olympic dreams when their trainers take on one of their biggest rival teams to train side by side with them.

The story revolves around the relationships between the two couples - Josh and his snotty sister who positively hates Courtney and Mark. Josh, on the other hand is the ultimate sweet guy. Kind of shy, extremely sexy, sensitive, talented, and he's been crushing on Courtney for years and years! The descriptions of their budding friendship, relationship, competitions and accompanying triumph and heartbreak were superb. This truly sent me through an array of emotions including heartbreaking tears.

This is just such a great story that includes enjoyable secondary and tertiary characters and really believable drama, not manufactured stuff thrown in just to meet required romance elements. I loved all the characters and am so excited to find out that this is also a series AND that there is another series prior to this with a young Courtney.
