Today, as we remember and mourn the 20th anniversary of 9/11, we reflect and pray for all involved on that horrible day. Many people compare tragedies to other tragedies to help illuminate the scale or amount of devastation... and today we pick up this practice to compare 9/11 and many other world events (wars, sickness, genocides) and compare it to amount and nature of abortion that happens in the U.S. and in the world. What we find is that nothing even comes close to the hidden genocide of abortion that happens every single day throughout the world and in our local communities destroying mothers, fathers, children, families.

Today, as we continue our topic of salvation, we talk about the great gift of our free will, predestination, and the sovereignty of God. We get into God's nature and His direct/positive vs. permissive will. God desires, directly wills, that all of us would freely choose to love and follow Jesus, His predestined plan in Christ for the salvation, redemption, justification, and healing of humanity that is offered to every single person. God is so sovereign that even choices made outside of God's direct will that He allows it to happen within His story/plan to bring a greater good into the drama of human and salvation history. Lastly, a little challenge for all of us to go and proclaim the mercy and love of God to every single person and offer them a choice to freely choose to be transformed by Jesus.

Today we talk about the absolutely incredible gift and good news of Purgatory - the encounter of the purifying love of God, the work of Jesus Christ perfecting us to live fully alive in God's love. We talk about what purgatory is NOT, the New Testament Principles / Implicit teaching for purgatory, the explicit teaching of Purgatory in the New Testament, the state of the soul encountering Jesus' purifying love won for us on the cross. Hell is suffering with no love or hope; heaven is love with no suffering; and purgatory is suffering with love and hope. God is a consuming fire, alleluia!

Happy (Belated) Father's Day! In this episode I share a few things of what God has taught me through mine and Napoli's daughter, Zelie, in the first 11 weeks. God has taught me more about the Father's Heart and most profoundly what it means to be a child of God. Jesus calls us to have child-like faith, to receive the free gift Abba gives us as His children; to work from that identity not for it; to trust in the person of Christ with child-like innocence, purity, dependency because He is the image of the perfect Father.
