MY TESTIMONY

Dr. Jim Whitmire, Minister of Music at Crossroads, shares that he trusted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at 15 while teaching in a Vacation Bible School. At that same time, he surrendered his life to full-time Christian service. He earned a BA in Music from Stetson University, Deland, Florida, where he met and married Linda Dooley of Rockledge, Florida. He later attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX.

Dr. Whitmire served as Minister of Music at churches, including First Baptist Church in Winter Park, Florida, the First Baptist Church in Merritt Island, Florida, and Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, TN, with Dr. Rogers. In Florida and Tennessee, he worked a total of 38 years with Dr. Rogers as his pastor. After retirement in 2005, he served at First Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, Germantown Baptist Church in Germantown, Tennessee, and First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida, with Dr. Mac Brunson as Pastor. Dr. Whitmire returned to Memphis in 2915 and joined the faculty of Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary and currently serves as Minister of Music at Crossroads.

Jim and Linda have six children (three boys – Wade, Joshua, and Luke, and three girls – Kelly, Wendy, and Shannon), as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

How Our Mess BeComes GOD’S MESSAGE

Matt Hammitt is a singer, songwriter, and speaker. He was the lead singer for the band Sanctus Real from 1996-2016. Matt is the recipient of three Dove Awards and has been nominated for two Grammy Awards. After leaving the band, Matt joined the FamilyLife speaker team and is a keynote speaker and performer at marriage and men’s conferences across the U.S., including Kirk Cameron’s “Living Room Reset” events. Matt lives in Tennessee with his wife, Sarah, and their four children.

Our guest speaker this week is Dr. Danny Sinquefield. Bro. Danny currently serves as a Harvest Field Team Leader with the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board. He is Pastor Emeritus at Faith Baptist Church in Bartlett where he was pastor for nearly three decades and is also a Past President of the Tennessee Baptist Convention. Bro. Danny and his wife, Rhonda, have three adult sons and several adorable grandchildren. He earned his  B.A. University of Central Florida, M.Div. New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and D.Min. The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville.
