  • John 7:1-5 - "Jesus Christ: A Divider of Men"

    Send us Fan Mail

Jesus has always been a polarizing figure. In John 7 we see repeatedly the rift Jesus causes between men. Because Jesus divided men, we also will be divisive if we follow Him faithfully. But being divisive is not bad if we are proclaiming and defending the truth of the gospel. Still, as Jesus shows, and as has been seen throughout the history of God's people, being divisive for the truth of Jesus will bring antagonism and persecution. But Christians need not fear, because we are on the winning side.

  • John 6:48-71 - "Stumbling Blocks, Superficial Faith, and Finishing Strong"

    Send us Fan Mail

In this text from John 6, Jesus tells His audience they must "eat His flesh and drink His blood" if they want eternal life. What does He mean by this?  Is Jesus referring to the Eucharist (i.e. the Lord's Table)? Does this mean when we partake of the Lord's Table, the bread and wine literally become Jesus's flesh and blood? This "hard" saying is one bone of contention which offends those with superficial faith, who subsequently abandon Jesus. Why did those with shallow faith reject Him, and how do we finish strong in Jesus? This podcast seeks to answer those questions.

Jesus is the Bread of Life. Since we humans are "dead in our sins," we are incapable of turning to Jesus for salvation. We can only come to Jesus when the Father, by His grace, draws us to Him. Those whom the Father draws come to Jesus, those who are drawn to Him believe in Him, and those who believe in Him are given eternal, resurrection life. Tune in to this edition of CrossTown to hear of God's unfathomable grace!

Because of Jesus's relationship to the Father, He is Lord over life, and the final judge at the resurrection of the dead. In Him Christians have eternal life now, and should thus live in such a way so as to reflect our redeemed status in anticipation of the Kingdom. Furthermore, since the unrepentant are under judgment, they should turn to Jesus in faith to escape the wrath to come.
