On Day 3 of our Advent journey, we step into one of the most pivotal moments in Scripture—the aftermath of the fall. Humanity has sinned, brokenness has flooded the world, and fear and shame now cling to the human heart. Yet into this moment of darkness, God speaks the very first promise of redemption.
In Genesis 3:14–15, often called the Protoevangelium—the “first gospel”—God declares that an offspring of the woman will one day crush the serpent’s head. It is a stunning word of hope spoken into the ruins of rebellion. And it points unmistakably to Jesus Christ, the One who defeats the powers of sin, temptation, and death through His life, death, and resurrection.
This episode invites listeners to consider what it means to wait well for God’s redeeming work, even when life feels fractured or uncertain. We reflect on how God moves toward sinners with grace, how His promises arrive long before their fulfillment, and how Advent teaches us to trust that redemption is already unfolding—even when we can’t yet see the outcome.
A practical spiritual exercise guides listeners to identify the “serpents” they face—areas of fear, struggle, or temptation—and then to anchor those places in God’s promises. Waiting well means naming the darkness honestly while clinging even more tightly to the hope God has spoken over us.
In Jesus, the promised serpent-crusher, we discover that redemption is not only coming—it has already begun. Advent invites us to rest in that hope as we wait for the full restoration God has promised.
