In December of 2015, Members of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs voted to approve production and processing of cannabis on the reservation. At that time There were 3,300 voters eligible to participate in the referendum with a requirement that at least 1,100 members having to vote for the referendum to be valid. More than 1400 voters turned out during a snowstorm, to cast their ballots with about 80s percent voting in favor of the Cannabis Enterprise.
The Warm Springs Economic Development Corporation (formerly known as Ventures) was a driving force behind that referendum vote and since then – the Warm Springs CP Enterprise has made plans, changed plans, developed a farm that is now operational, and is hoping to take this next step in expanding.
