#chicagocubs President of Baseball Operations #jedhoyer pays #kap & Gordon Wittenmyer a visit in the #rekap studios for a lengthy sitdown and conversation on all things #cubs. The guys press Hoyer on the 2024 season, why it didn’t work, why they came up short and additions that didn’t happen. While discussing the addition of #kyletucker, the guys want to know what’s next?  Are there limitations?  Hoyer discusses some of his favorite moves of the past and some that he could’ve done workout, including #kyleschwarber & #djlemahieu to name a few. Will it be different in 2025?  Is he done spending?  Will they be able to add at the deadline if they’re in the hunt and should 2025’s performance play into whether or not Hoyer comes back in 2026 as he’s in the last year of his contract.

The #mlb #wintermeetings are set to begin and #kap & Gordon discuss if the #chicagocubs are ever going to act like a major market team or continue to thread the needles with mid level signings like #matthewboyd. Kap tells Gordon that the #cubs are definitely winning the #nlcentral in 2025. Gordon laughs it off and says ‘prove it’.  As usual, a spirited debate as GW sets off for #dallas on Sunday to the meetings. 

Then, the pair discuss the stupid idea being tossed out by MLB Commissioner #robmanfred called ‘The Golden At-Bat’ allowing any player to get a one time chance to hit at a pivotal point in a game.

#kap and #gordonwittenmyer always are spirited when they get together and this episode is no different. Gordon believes the big market #chicagocubs should be in on just about everybody, while Kap knows there are some restrictions. The #cubs have had success in bringing Japanese players in recent years and currently have #seiyasuzuki & #shotaimanaga. So , are they players for the next big name from #japan?  #rokisasaki will make his way to #mlb in 2025 and the pair discuss whether he’ll be part of the 2025 plans.
