Magin first left his hometown, Iloilo, when he attended college at the Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU). After graduating two years ago, he left for Europe for his Masters. With the increased distance and time zone difference, not to mention, travel restrictions since March 2020, Magin's only way of keeping in touch with family is through social media and cooking. Magin Ferrer, a self-proclaimed Mama's Boy and Sous Chef, tells us more about that in this week's featured essay, "Culinary life with mom." His essay was published last January 24, 2021. On this episode, he tells us more about his love for cooking, what he's learned from living away from his family for six years now, and his advice to kids and their parents on how to cultivate a tight-knit relationship with each other despite living 7 hours and 6000 miles apart. | About the guest: Magin Benedict Ferrer is currently finishing his Masters Degree in Chemistry in France where he is working on mechanofluorochromic compounds. He struggles to show his family and friends back home how much he misses them.
About our partner, the University of the Philippines' Consulting Group (UPCG): Now in its second year, The Business Building Bootcamp (BBC) of the UP Consulting Group aims to educate small business owners on ways to take their business to the next level. This year's BBB will be held on March 5 and 6, 2022 (Saturday and Sunday) and will cover the following topics: business planning, digital marketing, and brand positioning, finance and accounting, legal matters, and corporate social responsibility. Each segment will consist of a 30-minute talk by prestigious industry experts, followed by an open forum, and a workshop.
