Buckle up, friends, it’s CULT WEEK! In this week’s episode, we are diving into the horrifying Ant Hill Kids cult and the official terrorist cult Aum Shinrikyo.

First up, let Dreia regale you with the tale of the Ant Hill Kids, led by the emotionally unstable Roch Theriault in Ontario, Canada. Roch was a pretty terrible dude and would often get angry and do some pretty terrible things – like assault women in his harem. He also believed that he was capable of resurrecting the dead, but never actually did it. Seems reasonable. Warning: this story is not for the faint of heart because it’s a huge and disgusting bummer.

Maggie’s story isn’t much better this week, either. So, if you were looking for lighthearted, maybe come back when you’re feeling up to a huge bummer. Shoko Asahara led the Aum Shinrikyo cult in the late 80s and early 90s, up until he decided that in order to bring about the apocalypse, the cult would have to get super violent. Aum Shinrikyo lead the largest domestic terrorist attack on Japanese soil when they released Sarin into the Tokyo subway system and killed 13 people. Luckily for the world, Asahara and the leaders of this cult were executed for their crimes about a year ago.
