Jesus teaches that our relationship with money reveals our spiritual condition. In Matthew 6:19-24, He contrasts earthly treasures that decay with heavenly treasures that last forever. A generous heart flows from understanding God’s grace in the gospel, while materialism clouds our vision and competes with our devotion to God. True generosity isn’t measured by the amount given but by the heart’s posture. When we treasure God above all else, generosity becomes the natural overflow of a grateful heart transformed by experiencing Christ’s sacrifice for us.
