Eleanor talks to us about, how when we live in the country of our target language, we might encounter culture shock and homesickness.

But what are these two words? Culture shock describes the effect of living in a country which has a different culture to home country, for example the way people interact with each other. Homesickness is what happens to us when we feel we would like to go home because you miss your home.

Why are these two words important when learning a language? Well, they are very important we will, at one point or another encounter these two words.

What can we do? Sometimes it's important to ride out the symptoms of culture shock and homesickness, but more importantly, we should try and assimilate ourselves.
