Ventosa, also known as cupping, is a practice where someone places various “cups” on different parts of the body. Using fire or a pump gun, a suction effect is created, raising the skin and drawing the blood to the surface. This is a practice used commonly throughout the Middle East, Europe, and Asia to treat swelling, chronic pain, inflammation, rheumatism, migraines, bronchitis and even the common cold. There are recent studies that suggest it can treat a variety of other ailments as well.
