In this episode of the ACUNS Current Issues Podcast, Andrew Tomlinson, Quaker UN Representative and Director, Quaker UN Office NY, joins co-host Alistair Edgar to discuss his recent article, Peace and Post-2015: Into the Home Stretch which focuses on Sustainable Development Goal 16: “Promote peaceful and inclusive institutions at all levels”. Tomlinson provides insight on the process, various pressures and interests at play in the formation of Goal 16, and what we should expect to see and hear over the next 3-6 months as Member States head into the UN Special Summit in New York in September and the COP21 in Paris in December. He discusses the challenges that Goal 16 will face as negotiations turn to questions of financing and implementation. Tomlinson also addresses how Goal 16 and the SDGs broadly will shape the future of the peacebuilding agenda for NGOs, states, and other private and global actors
