Curry Café: Wealth Inequity

Listen Later

In this episode of Curry Café, the panelists explore key societal issues, including income inequality and economic disparities. Topics discussed include the distinction between income and wealth inequality, the challenges of housing affordability, and the burden of student loans on younger generations. They critique the U.S. healthcare system, contrasting it with other countries, and examine the inequities in the tax system, where wealthy individuals often pay lower rates than ordinary workers. The conversation also highlights concerns about the profit-driven motives of corporations and insurance companies, the societal obsession with wealth accumulation, and the growing influence of billionaires on social programs.

Ray Gary led the discussion. Ray also produces and hosts two popular music shows on KCIW, Moon Dog and What’s Going On. Ray’s guests were Shirley Hyatt, producer and host of two other popular music shows, Mostly Bluegrass and Stardust; Robert O’Sullivan, major contributor to KCIW and former high school teacher and pastor; Rick McNamer, volunteer and board member.

We encourage anyone with differing views to participate in future Curry Café discussions. If you’re interested in joining the panel, email [email protected] or call 541-661-4098.
