Curse of La Familia

Listen Later

Boundaries are important, but what happens when the boundaries need to be set with those you love the most—your family?

Sometimes, choosing self and walking away isn’t easy. And frankly, denying yourself the privilege of living life on your terms isn’t either.

In this episode, the ladies talk with Rosa Fernandez, writer of the play “Curse of the Puerto Ricans” premiering in Dallas this month, along with the Director of the play, Dr. Marta Torres and Marketing Director of the Bishop Arts Theatre Center, Kendrick Dunn.

In Curse of La Familia, the group touches on family dysfunction, guilt, and even survivor’s remorse—highlighting the intersectionality across cultures and generations, such as the stories being told in the play itself.

The playwright shares some of her own story, part of the inspiration behind the play and her thoughts on breaking unhealthy family cycles.
