Publisher's Summary:
In 1829, Jacob and Martin left Kentucky to become mountain men, trappers of the Rocky Mountains. The rugged mountains that lay beyond Americas frontier remained mostly unexplored. In those days, when beaver were plentiful and buffalo roamed freely, the killing was good.
The two young men would also find that life would be hardscrabble in the high frontier. They would face grizzly bears and hostile Indians. And they would risk horse wrecks and mountain storms to trade their furs each year at the rendezvous. Curse of the Spanish Gold is the story of two adventurers who lived hard in the earliest days of the Wild West.
Members Reviews:
The curse of the Spanish gold and the first book crossed arrows are Five Star Stories in my book.
It's hard to find a writer that knows the time period as well as this man. I have enjoyed reading his first two books and hope he writes many more. This man knows the country he's writing about and the time period. He also tells what it was really like during that period. His facts about the rendezvous and theâ everyday pitfalls that were waiting for the Trappers is quite true. It was a very tough life and you didn't live very long if you were stupid especially if you were stupid and unlucky.
A big disappointment
This is the second book in this series that I have read... I purchased another but do not intend to read it. . I do not enjoy all the blood and gore given in so much detail... the storyline gets lost in the repetitive details. The author may get paid by the number of words, but I read for the story.
ANOTHER GOOD BOOK
This second mountain men book was just as good as the first one. The amount of detailed information on daily life, including the food they ate was wonderful. I will be looking for more books in the series.
Cursed Indeed
The curse continues to destroy anyone in possession of the Spanish gold. Will the curse destroy both Jacob and Martin like it did their fathers?
A very enjoyable book to read. It was hard to put down, once you got started reading.
I recommend starting with Mountain man book 1 then reading book 2 . Both of them are really enjoyable to read.
