It is important that we distinguish what God declared as customary to the nation Israel, and what has universal application - in other words what applies to us today. Not every custom Israel followed is for the Church. What Israel obeyed was part of their legislation and it is important that we do not subject ourselves to their customary laws. To enforce the laws today is what is called legalism.
