Another fine mystery from Bob Kidera
I've read the first two and eagerly awaited the third. I was not disappointed. Bob spins a twisting and turning tale that he takes from his life experiences and makes it very real. The description of the scene, locations, situations allows you to see, feel, and smell exactly what's going on. Lot's of familiar characters and especially the safe haven of C.J.'s rib joint, Gabe's home base, not only for good eats, but for keeping his compass pointed north. Well developed stories and characters enhance this volume along with some very memorable lines that just crack me up. "Her voice shivered, just like her legs.", "Heâs the kind of guy who could walk into an empty room and get lost in the crowd". "He lit a cigar the size of a babyâs arm." Most lines aren't like this in the book, but just enough to really make you laugh.
There are many unexpected twists and a great read. Don't miss Cut. Print. Kill.
Another Literary Treat!
It's great to have Gabe McKenna back! The third mystery in the series, "Cut.Print.Kill" is as good a read as its predecessors. The characters that the reader has grown to like in the previous outings are back, so get set to spend some time with old friends. The writing is crisp and witty; I found myself laughing aloud at the clever prose on more than one occasion. The author certainly knows his way around a keyboard. He also has a knack for clear descriptions that make the scenery easy to envision. The plot twists and turns, but it remains fair to the reader. The action and resolution are reasonable and believable. The ending closes out the tale yet leaves enough of an opening for a fourth chapter.
One minor difficulty with the novel is the periodic shift in narration from first-person to third-person omniscient. This occurs from chapter to chapter without any obvious clue to the reader. (It's fairly easy to figure out once one gets into the chapter.) Perhaps this shift could have been denoted better, either with a note or a change in font.
Gabe McKenna fans, in particular, and fans of well-written mysteries, in general, will appreciate this outing. The entire series would make great screenplays someday!
LOVE these Books!! can't wait for the next!!
Loved the third book in the Gabe McKenna's series! Robert Kidera has developed another enveloping mystery with some very interesting characters. I love Gabe, even when he is at his worst, he never gives up. He has managed to put one foot in front of the other through thick and thin in some of the most inventive and imaginative scenarios I have come across.
