John Durham has served as the Lead Pastor at Highland Baptist Church in Waco, TX. since 2013. Previously, John served as the Lead Pastor at First Baptist Irving, TX., and served as the Student Pastor at First Baptist Houston, TX.  His undergrad degree is from Baylor, and his Master’s from Luther Rice Seminary.

John is married to Jennifer, a school teacher and Bible teacher. They have two children, Hannah and her husband Kyle Backhus, as well as son Caleb Durham. They are also proud grandparents to granddaughter Palmer Backhus, due in Feb 2021.

John loves outdoors, traveling, kayaking, reading, history, Cajun food, and climbing…including conquering 19,341 foot Mount Kilimanjaro a few years ago!
