Cyclist accelerated by the wind: A 2-D vector problem (PhysCasts)

Listen Later

We are going to look at a problem that is an example of a 2-d vector calculation. A cyclist travels along a horizontal road and 5.5 m/s. A strong wind blows from one side for 1 minute, after which the cyclist is moving at 7.0 m/s at an angle of 12 degrees to their intial direction. What was their average acceleration while the wind blew?
