As real as any other virus but usurped for political means.  Economic Collapse, Soft Marshall Law, Self Policing Societies! Everything Laid before you is Set to Change and Shift your Mind! Daily!  Wear the Mask, Don't wear the mask, Wear the Mask! Sounds Like 1984 to me, one day Say one Fact and the Next, Say that that never Happened! Confuse the Public with Constant Bombardment of differing Facts for the people to cling to while they fight over who's right.  Not to take away form those who have lost loved ones. I'm sorry and feel deeply for those who have lost loved ones and those who couldn't see those loved ones in the hospital. It is an abhorrent situation, but one that has been twisted and contorted for those who could use it.
