This is transposed down by a 5th from the original key, to fit comfortably on the viola in first position.

Some people like to play very slow versions of this tune and really wallow in it, which is of course very beautiful... but I like it with a bit more movement, as I mainly learnt it in sessions where it had more of a walking feel to keep everyone playing together, and this has kind of stuck with me when I play it solo.

This video features some house martins as backing singers (not The Housemartins, the actual original birds) ...and the reverb you can hear is the natural acoustic of this conservatory I have borrowed for making a few videos, not added after the fact (which of course you will have realised due to the absence of reverb on the birdsong, but just saying).
