Back by popular demand, Paul Sr. returns to Schiffbauer Over Rocks fresh off his Ian Bick Locked In podcast appearance. Him and Paul Jr. talk about that experience, more gangster stories, like the time Paul Sr. ran into some guys that looked like they were pulled off the Sopranos, as well as old bar tales from his days as the owner of the Curb Shoppe.
After a stint in the U.S. Army, Paul Sr. became intimate with knowledge of these sorts of activities during his time as an associate for an illegal gambling operation centered around video poker machines under the guise of “Amusement Only” from 1990-96 in Baltimore, Maryland. After a deal gone bad, he fled the business and went legit. He ran a neighborhood bar for over 20 years in Charm City and went on to write his debut novel Amusement Only loosely based on his life behind bars with writing cohort, Harford Hopson.
