Firstly, Myla wanted to be part of the podcast, so she is now our funny intro. She has a hard time saying "WHO"... even though she knows the sound an owl makes. We thought it was funny, so we left it.

Part of my vision for Dad, Who Are You? has always been to tell more than one side of the story. In these minisodes, Alex takes the mic and sits down with the spouses, partners, family members, and loved ones of the dads we interview.

It’s a chance to hear their perspective, share some words of affirmation, reflect on things they may have learned from the episode, and maybe even say a few things that don’t always get said out loud.

My hope is that these conversations add another layer to each dad’s story and create moments that other couples, parents, and families can relate to. Maybe something shared here helps someone understand their person a little better, start a conversation, or simply feel a little less alone while navigating life, relationships, and parenthood.

This episode is our rough draft and our final version of our first go at this whole podcast thing. And what better place to start than with me, the host. The best part is that I am interviewed by my emotional support baddie and wife, Alex.

It’s tough to fit a lifetime into an hour, but we did our best. In this first episode, we talk about what Dad, Who Are You? is all about, how we hope these conversations will flow, and some of the experiences that shaped me into the man and dad I am today.

More than anything, this podcast is about the mental and emotional side of the everyday dad. The things that shaped us, the things we carry with us, and the things we may have never talked about before.

This one isn’t perfect, and that’s kind of the point. It’s real, it’s vulnerable, and it’s the beginning.
