Black fathers matter. Plain and simple. Over the summer, Brown Skin Mom spoke with some awesome fathers. This special mid-week release is catching up with one more dad, Sean Williams from the Dad Gang.
Over the summer, the Brown Skin Mom Podcast featured a couple of dads. I had Glen Henry of Beleaf in Fatherhood and Papa Bear, Laurence Shaw, on talking about fatherhood and parenting through their eyes. There was one dad I reached out to that I couldn’t connect with because of scheduling conflicts. I finally got to speak with him in late July, you’ll hear me say August on the podcast. His interview would have come out then except for our computer crashed! Papa Bear replaced the hard drive and we’re back in business.
A Gang of Active Fathers
This brings me to the mid-week podcast release of the Brown Skin Mom Podcast, featuring Sean Williams of The Dad Gang. Sean Williams created The Dad Gang to showcase the many active black fathers in our community. If you check out his Instagram, you might see a celeb feature, a popular dad influencer, or your ’round the way dad doing his thing. You will see that black fathers matter. His platform is full of black dad love.
Sean was inspired to start The Dad Gang after realizing he was receiving compliments for being an active dad. Something he has always been. Sometimes these comments are underhanded compliments and Sean touches on the in this episode. We talk about millennial fathers being more active than previous generations and how you can’t front on social media. Sean also gives us the inside scoop on some Dad Gang events coming up.
