Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly evolving and impacting many aspects of our lives. Scientists at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory are using AI to understand how the human brain learns so quickly despite the limited information in our genes. They've created an algorithm that mimics this process, resulting in AI that can perform tasks like image recognition and video game playing with very little training. Anthropic has created a new open-source tool called the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which allows AI models to connect to external data sources and tools. This means AI assistants can access more information and become more helpful and efficient. Companies like Block and Apollo are already using MCP to improve their AI systems. Other companies, like Zoom and IBM, are also focusing on AI. Zoom is rebranding itself as an "AI-first" company and incorporating more AI features into its products. IBM is partnering with Amazon to make its powerful AI models available on Amazon's cloud platform. Meanwhile, Senator Welch introduced the TRAIN Act, which aims to make AI development more transparent by requiring companies to disclose what data they use to train their AI models. This is important because many artists and creators are concerned about their work being used without permission to train AI systems.
