David & Jonathan
One of the most amazing friendships that we find in the Bible is the one between David and Jonathan. It was a friendship that defied all the odds stacked against it and proved to be a costly one, particularly for Jonathan.

For the sake of context, David had been employed by Jonathan’s father, King Saul, as a court musician with the task of calming the manic, dark and violent mood swings of the King. What becomes clear, is that King Saul saw David as a threat and attempted on one occasion to take his life. Jonathan was caught between his Father and his friend. 

It was a complex and volatile situation but, somehow, the love and loyalty of two friends stayed the course.
