A messenger with bad news, in order to bestow God’s grace

David has committed adultery and murder. What was David’s state? We can imagine that his spiritual life wasn’t great, he wasn’t enjoying that sweet communion with the Lord, as in years gone by. His harp was probably gathering dust in the corner and no psalms were flowing from his heart. 
The months have past and the baby is born. Then David’s faithful friend and confidant of former years, Nathan, comes to visit him. He will bring him a message from the Lord. But who would want to be Nathan, delivering this message?
