Our examples….

Yesterday we looked at a short passage in 1 Timothy – Paul’s encouragement and challenge to sharpen up Timothy’s prayer life. Today we are moving into a short passage in his second letter. 

Paul was a great encourager of Timothy – Paul had left Timothy with lots of tasks and struggles to deal with in his leadership in the church in Ephesus – Timothy was young, but here in these letters, we see Paul’s wise advice and encouragement for Timothy to stay strong, be a faithful leader and defender of the Gospel.

As Timothy’s encourager, Paul’s words and actions matched – his example was a good one.  There was a consistency about Paul – word and deed, that meant he was a good mentor, encourager of young leaders like Timothy.
