Patience is a Virtue
My son has a real interest in gardening. He loves planting, growing and particularly loves harvesting. What he struggles with, of course, is being patient. Gardening requires a lot of patience. Preparing the soil, planting seeds and plants at the right time, watering, protecting, feeding – until, in time, a harvest comes.
Jesus uses illustrations from farming life as we see in the gospels and so does James. James wants to remind the followers of Jesus that patience is a mark of discipleship, so he turns to an agricultural example.
