We are going to spend a few days looking at some of Israel’s Judges. I guess, for some, the book of Judges is one to be avoided – a bit of an embarrassment. In it, God seems to sanction war, conflict, violence and murder. To others, Judges is full of those exciting stories that make a good season of Sunday School sessions; Gideon, Deborah, Samson. So perhaps it’s good for us to stop and take a little look at this book, ponder its purpose and see how it can speak to us and our age.
