The Disciples Flee

This week we have spent time with Elijah feeling exhausted and scared – God ministered to him.  Jonah – trying to out run the God of the whole earth.  Moses fleeing for safety – God using this time to shape and prepare Moses for Service.  Joseph fleeing from temptation – choosing integrity. 

Today we focus on perhaps the saddest story of running we find in Scripture. 

Jesus is in the garden of Gethsemane, pouring out his heart to his Father, asking his disciples to stay awake – ‘watch and pray’ he says. 

Then Judas arrives – and betrays with a kiss.  Chaos ensues, the result the disciples run, desert Jesus in his lowest hour of need.
