The Lord God is different to the local gods. He watches over us, he never sleeps or daydreams – his eyes of love never, ever leave us. He watches over our coming and going both in the here and now, but also for ever. We cannot wander out of his sight.
We don’t have to wake God up, shout and scream and get God’s attention, like the prophets of Baal did on mount Carmel. Like Elijah, we can know and have absolute confidence that our God is awake, aware – and we have his full attentions
