With standout safeties Lathan Ransom and Jordan Hancock gone, Ohio State is reloading its secondary — and it starts with fluidity and flexibility. New DC Matt Patricia and Ryan Day are testing player roles, adjusting alignments, and prioritizing matchup-based versatility — all to maintain the high standard set by last season’s elite unit. Downs' role will evolve, and the key to unlocking the defense may lie in finding the perfect fit at nickel.
