Jesus himself introduced this idea and language in his conversation with Nicodemus, the religious leader who had come to Jesus under cover of darkness. But what does it mean to be born again? And how does it happen? Are there limitations to what we can understand about this work of God's Spirit?

- Nicodemus had some immediate questions and misunderstandings. What are some of the questions or misunderstandings about being "born again" that you have had or heard?

- If you were teaching children in Sunday School, how might you explain the idea of being "born again" to them? How might you explain the idea to a close friend?
