Many people are like a dam that holds back water in terms of dealing with others.  Once that dam has been broken and it is no longer regulating how much water is allowed to spill forth, a surge of uncontrollable water comes blasting through that dam.  Some people are the same way with their temper, they allow it to control them and a rush of anger overwhelms them and onto others.
