Jesus' coming into the world was to deliver mankind from the bondage and captivity he found himself through the deceit and subtlety of the devil who stole his God-given authority and power. Man became the devil's captive and had to endure all forms of oppression from this evil taskmaster. Jesus came destroying the works of this evil taskmaster in the lives of men, giving men victory over him, and giving them reasons to rejoice and celebrate being completely delivered from the grip of the devil.
