A few takeaways:

  • California does not have a state level social equity program
  • $15 million in grant funding will help fund local social equity programs like in Oakland and other cities who have existing programs.
  • 2022 funding is down from $35 million in previous budget year.
  • Allocation does not mean that $15 million will end up directly in operators businesses, but will flow to nonprofits who are helping programs get off the ground.
