Many of us tend to focus on the differences we have with people, rather than similarities with people we meet, and in our relationships. Especially if we view those differences in negative way. If we focus on that, we are doing a huge disservice to ourselves by not shifting our mindset and expanding our perspective. It’s not about being right or wrong, yet so many people who think they’re right won’t even listen to someone else’s viewpoint. If we try to make a concerted effort to learn from the differences of others, we might start to learn some important things that we never even knew we needed to know. We can even start to appreciate and find the beauty in those differences.
I’ve learned over the years that the people who’s opinions are much different from mine, especially if my opinion or perspective was something I thought I’d NEVER change, can often be the person who explains it in a way that I’d never thought of before and that perspective they share is the moment I change my mind. I appreciate when people take the time to tell me WHY they have a certain opinion or perspective. I respect the people that can challenge my views and opinions. I never want to be stuck in my ways. I never want to have limiting beliefs and ideas, or self limiting beliefs. I want to constantly learn, grow, evolve and CHANGE. Change is good.
I encourage everyone to engage with people who challenge your views and inspire you to think outside the box.
