Remembering God’s involvement in our past is important for us who are on the path of living for God. In Psalm 44, the Psalmist recalls how God had delivered their forefathers from their situation. This was the distant past, and by doing so they were asserting that God’s hand has been upon them from before their being born. Then the Psalmist recites the nearer past, how God had saved them from their foes, their enemies. This is making it personal. Not only was God with their families in ages past, but he is with us even now.

The Daily Psalms are given with the intention to encourage Christians to read and meditate on these scriptures in order to grow in their faith and relationship with God.
