Derrick Pratt, Museum Educator at the Erie Canal Museum, will discuss the long-winded planning and highly anticipated start of Erie Canal construction. This talk looks at the early efforts to harness New York’s natural waterways and the political wrangling that almost kept the “Eighth Wonder of the World” from happening.

Light snow, mainly before 8pm. Low around 27. Calm wind becoming west around 6 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 44. West wind around 8 mph.
An area of low pressure will move off the mid-Atlantic coast
today bringing widespread light snow. Some rain may mix in
across valley locations with accumulations expected to be mainly
on non-paved surfaces. High pressure will bring mainly dry
weather on Thursday and Friday with temperatures running
slightly above normal. A potent storm system is expected to
bring periods of rain, snow and strong winds to the region late
Friday through Saturday.
