To celebrate Dame Vera Lynn's 100th birthday Chris Pearson looks back at her career from her first professional performance in east London at the age of seven via a career break providing the singing voice for musical cover versions of the big Hollywood films to performing for British Troops in the steamy jungles of Burma.

We’ll trawl through some of the archive BFBS interviews with Dame Vera down the years and catch up with her family as she approaches her centenary. We’ll also find out about Dame Vera’s charities one of which will benefit from the proceeds of the new album and huge concert at the London Palladium this weekend.
