National's newest MP says he's ready to hit the ground running.
Dan Bidois took out the Northcote by-election on Saturday, beating Labour's Shanan Halbert by more than 1300 votes.
He told Mike Hosking he's humbled by the result.
"We're going to be working hard and I want to see Simon Bridges be Prime Minister in 2020."
Despite the win, Labour managed to close the gap by thousands of votes.
Bidois says he's taken note.
"I certainly need to make some inroads in my campaign promises. It's another two years until the general election, but that's playing on my mind as of this morning."
