Lady Arabella Blydon has beauty and a brain, and she's tired of men who can see only one without the other.
When a suitor tells Arabella he's willing to overlook her appalling bluestocking tendencies on account of her looks and fortune, she decides to take a break from the Marriage Mart. During an extended stay in the country, she never expects to meet Lord John Blackwood, a wounded war hero who intrigues her like no other man.
Lord John has lived through the worst horrors of war, but nothing could have been as terrifying to his tormented heart as Lady Arabella. She is intoxicating, infuriating, and she makes him want to live again. Suddenly he's writing bad poetry and climbing trees in the pitch-dark night just so he can dance with her as the clock strikes midnight. And even though he knows he can never be the sort of man she deserves, he can't help wanting her. But when the harsh light of day replaces the magic of midnight, can this tormented soul learn to love again?
Members Reviews:
The narrator
I would not recommend this book. Julia Quinn is one of my favorite.
I would invest on a different narrator and re release this audiobook.
The narrator is overly dramatic when playing the part of the lead. I am being kind with this review.
good Julia Quinn story but harrible narrator,
If you could sum up Dancing at Midnight in three words, what would they be?
change the narrator
Who was your favorite character and why?
main characters were great but the narrator ruined the book. I went out and purchased a hard copy so I could finish it.
Would you be willing to try another one of Lucy Rayners performances?
no, I purchased two books by this performer and I want to return them. I would rather read the book myself than listen to her. If anyone chooses to listen to JQ's books narrated by Rosalyn Landor then you would understand what I'm talking about.
So please Ms. Quinn no more performances by Lucy Rayner.
I'm sorry to be so harsh but this needed to be said.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
If the narrator was Rosalyn Landor
Any additional comments?
Ms. Quinn, as a loyal reader of your fine books please pay more attention to who you or Audible hires to read them...:(
good
the story was good but the narrator. sounded as if she was on hellium which took from the story
Narrator is terrible
This lady sounds like she's reading the book for the first time. The pitch of her voice at the start of every sentence makes you want to wring her neck.
dreadful narration
The narrator with her flippant and shrill presentation destroyed an already weak story line
