"Toussaint," Danny Glover's intended first project as film director, is about Francois Dominique Toussaint Louverture (1704-1803), a former slave and one of the Fathers of Haiti's Independence from France in 1804, making it the first Black Nation in the Americas to throw off imperial rule and become a Republic. In May 2006, the film included had cast members Wesley Snipes, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Roger Guenveur Smith and Mos Def. Production of the cancelled project was estimated to cost $30 million. Thank you Supervoid Cinema for the research and information on what happened and I hope this will spark interest/demand for this important film to be made.
